2024 Special Leo District Elections
Leo District 4-C4 is holding a special election for officers to serve a partial term from the date of the election until the end of the Lionistic year, June 30, 2025.
The following positions are open for nomination:
Leo District President
Leo District Vice President
Leo District Secretary
Leo District Treasurer
Leo District Membership Chairperson
Qualifications for office:
President/Vice President: Must have served as a Leo Club President for the majority of a term by the date of the election
All: Must be members in good standing (recorded on Lions Portal) of clubs in good standing
All: Must not reach one year of age greater than the limit during their term of office (for most clubs, which are type Alpha, this means not turning 19 years old before July 1, 2025).
The election shall be held in compliance with the Standard Leo District Constitution found in Chapter 22 of the Lions International Board Policy Manual. The following has been paraphrased from the official text:
Nominations of qualified candidates must be submitted prior to the election (deadline tbd). Nominations from the floor may only be made if no qualified candidate has submitted a prior nomination.
A candidate may be nominated for many positions but can only be elected for one position. As such, it is customary to hold the elections for President first, then Vice President, and so on, with each elected Leo being disqualified from all succeeding positions.
Election shall be held by ranked choice vote with a secret ballot. Voting may be done by unanimous voice vote if only one candidate is running.
Each Leos club in good standing is entitled to one (1) delegate per ten (10) registered members or major fraction thereof (rounded to the nearest 10).
Not included as part of the official requirements, but the Lions District has made a goal that in order to consider the results of the Leo District Election valid, representatives from at least 50% + 1 of the active Leo clubs in the District must participate.

The Leo District Council is comprised of all the above elected officers, as well as each Club President of a club in good standing, each serving as a Director of the Council. Each member of the Council has one vote on any decision of the Council. The Council is advised by Lions appointed to the Leo Chairperson Committee of the Lions District, who serve as non-voting Council members and Liaisons between the Leos and Lions.

Leo District 4-c4 Board Job Descriptions
In your board position for Leo District 4-c4 Board,
you must model appropriate behavior, attend the majority of events and meetings,
And wear club attire at all events you attend.
President: The President is the leader of the board and district. This job requires a great amount of responsibility and leadership skills. You will be running the meetings and organizing various club/volunteer events. You will also ensure that all other board officers successfully complete their responsibilities and assign tasks.
Vice President: The Vice President supports the president, helping oversee the board and members. If the President cannot attend a meeting or event, it is the vice president’s job to take over in their place. The Vice President should know the ins and outs of the club, members, and board, essentially lessening the load for the President.
Secretary (2): The Secretaries must be present at all meetings to take efficient notes and is responsible for all written information. They will efficiently deliver minutes to the board and advisor(s) and club presidents. They will use Google Docs with a provided template to take notes which will then be sent out to the entire board/district in the form of an email. The Secretary will also be in charge of the secretary's Google account, managing the email, docs, sheets, etc.
Treasurer: The Treasurer must handle the district funds and budget. You will keep track of all monetary transactions on a Google sheet shared with the board and advisor(s). As the Treasurer, you will update the club on financial updates, work closely with the Sponsor Lions for financial funds, and make suggestions on anything money-related (events, projects, and activities)
Social Media Manager: The Social Media Manager is in charge of publicizing club events with posts, flyers, etc. using all and any social media platforms. You will also be photographing all Leo Club activities to be uploaded to the club website. The Social Media Manager must communicate with the Webmaster to keep website information/photographs up to date.
Webmaster: The Webmaster will strengthen and continue to update the website with current events/activities and photographs from the Historian. They will also update the website with appropriate information for upcoming news and events or anything needed.
Candidate Qualifications:
President & Vice President Qualifications: (according to the constitution & bylaws)
Be an active member in good standing of recognized Leo club in good standing in her/his single or sub-district.
Have served, or will have served at the time he/she takes office as Leo district president, as President or Vice President of a Leo club for a full term or major portion thereof.
Secure the endorsement of the:
(a) Leo club of which the nominee is a member; and
(b) Sponsoring Lions club.
Will not reach an age one year greater than the maximum age limit during their term in office. (i.e. less than 19 yrs old before 7/1/2024)
Secretary, Treasurer & other officers will be appointed by the Newly Elected Leo District President. Qualifications:
Be an active member in good standing of recognized Leo club in good standing in her/his single or sub-district.
Have served, or will have served as a Leo District Officer or a Leo Club Officer for a full term or major portion thereof.
Secure the endorsement of the Leo club of which the nominee is a member
Will not reach an age one year greater than the maximum age limit during their term in office. (i.e. less than 19 yrs old before 7/1/2024)
